Why Business Side of Medicine
It is in this season of good innovation and positive disruption that we as doctors and health practitioners need to understand the entrepreneurial and business side of efficiently running a private practice.
Our various meetings of The Business Side of Medicine (BSOM), during 2022 and 2023, have seen an increase in attendance and engagement with the panel discussions exposing the desire, and need, to acquire more knowledge with regards to efficiently running a private practice.
This hunger for more knowledge and support needed in the startup practices keeps being reiterated at each meeting. Questions concerning strategy needed for upscaling practices and collaborating with other specialities and multi-disciplines have been asked numerous times, with further exploration needed.
It is in this quest for new knowledge and thirst for wisdom that we can continue to hold workshops four times a year in effort to raise an empowered health professional. It is through this website that we plan to make content presented at the workshops available at all times to our community.

BSOM Mission Statement
The Business Side of Medicine strives to give medical practitioners a new language in the entrepreneurial and medical fields.
We aim to provide innovative, educational resources and create platforms for discussion related the effective running of medical practice. We host four meetings a year on a quarterly basis.

Usually 60 – 80 attendees per symposium.

About The Founder
Dr L Machaba
The Dr L Machaba Foundation is a registered NPO, which aims to eradicate poverty through funding projects involving mother and child(boy and girl) . Dr L Machaba foundation aims to educate and provide basic needs such as food, clothing, and infrastructure where mother and child are concerned. The foundation works with orphanages to ensure health, safety and need fulfilment for mother and child.

Dr Lethabo Machaba-Simelani is a Paediatrician (Paediatric Specialist) at Netcare Sunninghill Hospital, where she works in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNICU), paediatric wards and provides an outpatient service in her rooms. She is the CEO and Founder of a thriving medical practice: Dr Lethabo Machaba INC, CEO and Founder of Dr L Machaba foundation, an Author and Entrepreneur. She is also CEO and Founder of The Business Side of and Co-director of the African Female Paediatric Network. A TV Producer of note and Co-director of Ibhilimed (a digital health software).
